All my friends have always told me that I need to go to the Holy Grail of crafting stores....Tinsel Trading in NYC. It is in the garment district and I have met Marcia who owns the shop when I participated in Mary Engelbriet’s workshop several years ago. I have never ventured there afraid I would spend too much money. The embellishments are expensive because they are vintage and I have known people to spend over five hundred dollars in the shop. But this time I decided I would go..my friend Joyce told me that because all of the stuff was so expensive I would not spend much...Joyce loves to buy and she only spent $30.....I was sure I would spend less than $100 if I watched myself. Annie and Gary dropped me off and I shopped. Here are pics of the shop and did I spend less than $100? I will give you a hint....I would not tell Gary how much I spent.

For Miss Sara
My friend Sara is in the position I was in last year.....her lovely and dear son Patrick has left for freshman year at college and I know she is so sad to see him go. It is hard to enter the empty nest syndrome. So this post is a cheer up to her...if you remember Sara just loves (ha ha) clowns so again I am sending in the clowns.

Hunt and Gather in Minneapolis
Next week we will be driving Annie back to MCAD in Minneapolis. Getting everything packed this week...we will be sad to see her go but I think she is ready to return. While I am there I hope to go to one of my favorite stores Hunt and Gather. The name says it all...it is an antique shop in which you literally dig through all kinds of stuff for treasure. None of my family ventures in with me..that is fine more stuff for me. The store has rooms and bins of things I love ..... old blocks, bins and bins of ephemera from the 50s and 60s particularly old kid’s playing cards, old school stuff, old game pieces and postcards. They also have lots of vintage signs and letters from old buildings. I took some snaps of the shop the time I went last February.
