Happy Holidays

As usual I am behind with Christmas.....no gifts wrapped, tree up but not decorated, house not cleaned, gifts still to finish making...why oh why do I always think it will be fun to make a little something for certain people (mainly my mom). My lovely daughter is home from her first semester at college...she survived it and is ready for next semester. She is elated beyond belief (I would be too) that she will never have to take another 3D design course. And she is excited that next semester she can start the first course in her major...Introduction to Graphic Design. So now I can listen to two people discuss the merits of typefaces and the hierarchy of the type in the slides that are shown before the film starts at the theatre....you know the local ads. My husband Gary always likes to get to the movies early so we get to watch the slides scroll by at least 10 times and what else is there to do but critique the slides.  In fact I experienced this just last night before the start of The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo. It is the one film I have been waiting all year to see. It is directed by David Fincher one of my favorite directors(Se7en, Fight Club, Zodiac, Benjamin Button, Social Network) . He cast it perfectly. I loved the books and the Swedish film versions so I just had to see the American version the night it opened. I dragged Gary...actually he wanted to go...and Anna....I have talked so much about the book etc that she went to appease her mom. Everyone enjoyed the movie and it is beautifully shot as all David Fincher movies are. And the opening credits are stunning. That was Annie’s favorite part of the movie. That is what you get when you talk too much about something and give them too high an expectation...something I tend to do. When I like/love something I think everyone in my immediate circle should feel the same.

So back on track. As I was decorating my studio...do you doubt I would do that.... I thought I would share a few of my favorite vintage holiday cards as well as one card that is so me. So here they are to get you in the holiday spirit.

A little large for her but she plays the those holiday songs with passion

This card would get a negative typography critique from Annie and Gary

I just think this is so cute.

Let’s get rid of Rudolph...what says Christmas better than a turquoise poodle.

Better you did not know how seductive Rudolph could be

This is so my house and my sentiment...I always buy new Christmas knickknacks. I am off to TFA antiques today so I can see what they have for Christmas...I am really late this year.

Successful Sale

Well my artwork sale is over...lots of my artwork kids got new homes and I appreciate all of you who bought some of my work for your home. I am so flattered and proud that one of my former students, Brian Williamson and his lovely wife Jadee, are going to decorate their first baby’s nursery with Linda art. The baby is due in 6 weeks and it is going to be a baby girl.

As with all sales there is still plenty of artwork not sold. So today I went back to my blog postings from last week and put the titles, dimensions and prices under all of the art that was not sold. If you decide you want a piece just let me know....if you get a bonus for your job or cash for the holidays and you think a Linda artwork is what you want to buy with it just write.....I am happy to sell whenever anyone has cash to buy.

Some of the artwork, the smaller pieces especially the book back artwork will be going onto my Etsy site. I have put a star in front of the titles of all of the book back pieces since some of you are really interested in those pieces.

I also realized when I was pricing and titling the artwork this morning that I had not posted 2 pieces that I planned to sell....great pieces in my book so I am going to post them now on the blog.

Thanks to all who came to my sale and thanks again to all who bought artwork.

Daisy Dot Vases 10.5"X15" $450.00

What a Princess Needs 17"X23" $650.00
This piece looks a little different from this jpg. The artwork does not have purple around it nor does it have the daisy border, those were put in digitally for a wall art client. The artwork now has handwritten type.

Do you need artwork for kids?

Todays posting will be most of the work I have done for kids. Some of them are illustration jobs for Sesame Street, Girl’s Life, others are for kids wall art and some I did just for fun or for promo pieces.

The fruit bowl and the owls in the snow are gone from yesterday’s post. My former roommate and forever friend Sue bought them.

The Little Bo Peep piece you will see in this post will look odd....trust me it is an intact piece now. The original artwork had Big Bird holding the book...his hands held the book....that is where I have erased out the image.....and you saw the top of his body but he did not have a head....too frightening to hang in a kids room....so I have taken Big Bird off the piece and fixed the book so it is complete and also the art is on a fresh clean white background.

There is also a piece with a baby in a bed surrounded by baby items..the artwork is in a grid. There is a cloud above the baby. I will personalize this piece with a baby’s name and birth date if you buy it.

So here comes the artwork.
